2016's PTET prize for Biology goes to Goh Min Qi (L6-4), who achieved 89% (a) in her final year examinations - congratulations!
In PTET Biology, we celebrate our students’ academic achievements, but simultaneously believe that a student’s ability as a learner and as a functioning member of the society is not exclusively tied to their exam grades. Indeed, the tutors, in their time of teaching, have come across students who are capable thinkers, proficient speakers and disciplined learners, yet their competencies are not reflected in the exams they have sat for. Thus, we would like to acknowledge our students’ individual qualities by granting them the following awards.
Perseverance in Biology
‘Inspirational’ is what these students are. When it is far easier to give up after receiving discouraging results, these students instead rise up to the challenge and worked harder than before. Their results may not be on par with their peers, but their efforts are second to none.
- Haziqah Najwa bte Ibrahim (L6-3)
- Amy Azurin bte Alihan (L6-2)
- Muhammad Izzuddin bin Ishak (L6-2)
Trustworthiness in Biology
These students understand that learning is their responsibility. They always hand in their work on time, and tutors can be sure that the work submitted is completed to the best of their ability. If, for whatever reason, they are unable to complete a certain task assigned to them by a tutor, they will be courteous enough to approach them with an apology and a promise to finish it as soon as possible – a promise you can consider fulfilled!
- Abdul Hakim bin Morni (L6-1)
Excellence in Biology
Being smart is not a guarantee to being wise. These students, however, are wise enough to understand the importance of staying focused in class and reviewing lessons after class, which have contributed to their being consistently at the top in every tests and exam. They are also very attentive and understanding to their peers’ needs and are always seen offering help to other students and patiently listening as their tutor further explains a theory for the benefit of the rest.
- Nur Ilmi bin Josnany (L6-1)
- Normasturina bte Ibrahim (L6-2)
- Goh Min Qi (L6-4)

Team Synergy in Biology
It is not difficult to decide who should get this award as these students naturally stand out from the rest as leaders. They do not dictate, but instead listen to the opinions of others, facilitate discussions and ensure that everyone in their group agrees to a decision. They bring the best out of their members and their caring nature is what makes them well-liked in their groups.
